Debunking Recycling 2.0

The extended edition revealing how much plastic you consume

My approach to the individual project was to further extend our groups original project. The guide to exposing the plastic and recycling industry. As the extended part of the guide. An over arching scale is displayed of just how much plastic is produced in the world and how much of it is actually being recycled. I also included a more relatable first person perspective and created examples for the viewer to self evaluate themselves and their plastic consumption.

The overall purpose of this guide is to encourage people to be self reflective and do their part to reduce their plastic consumption.

Things you can do at home and alternative options to reduce your plastic consumption.

Legendary Eco Friendly Hero Option

(You’re out of this world! I don’t know how you do it, but you’re doing your part to save the planet)

  • Instead of using plastic shopping bags, bring tote/material bags

  • Instead of using the mini plastic bags for your fruit and vegetables, bring reusable cloth bags

  • Love coffee? Get a Keep Cup

  • (re-usable coffee cup/travel mug)

  • Purchase reusable ecofriendly straws or dont use straws at all

  • Dont purchase anything with packaging, just buy items that only result in their waste being biodegradable

  • Only shop at places where you fill up reusable bags that would otherwise onlky be sold in packaging at normal grocery stores

  • Shop at farmers markets

  • Grow your own herbs, veggies and fruits
