assembling the everyday
Updated: Jul 17
In this video, we explore our neighbourhood through everyday observations and interactions across Vietnam, Melbourne, and India. Each person's perspective is presented within a 3×3 grid, inspired by the surface of a Rubik's Cube, while its rotating movements blend our individual experiences into a collective narrative.
Our journey begins as we wake up and take our first steps, focusing on the textures beneath our feet. The camera gradually shifts from our footsteps to ourselves, then to the people, places, and everyday moments unfolding around us, revealing how we interact with and respond to our neighbourhood throughout the day. Along the way, we discover the personal comfort spaces we naturally return to, places where we feel a sense of belonging. As the day comes to an end, the video fades to black before looping back to the beginning, reflecting the continuous rhythm of everyday life and our shared experience of home.
