the human air sensor

our bodies as air perceptors

air relates to our lives

The Human Sensor is a project that rethinks our bodies as air receptors. Air is something we typically ignore in our daily lives because it is invisible and has no color or sound. We usually consider it imperceptible to us. However, our bodies can connect to air and make it relate to us in many ways.

recipe for action

  1. Spot your closest location to grasp for air and take two pictures. Document the air condition and feel the air. How do you perceive air through your senses in this place? What emotions does this experience bring you?

  2. Go outdoors and find a location close to you where you feel comfortable and relaxed. Take two pictures of the general view and of the specific part of the place that makes you perceive air. How do you sense the air in this location? What emotions does this experience bring up for you?

  3. Compare your experiences. Take realization on how our bodies can act as a sensor. How did both locations make you feel?

With this, we can collect data on how people perceive air all across the world and in diverse environments. It can induce a reflection on the importance of air and how little attention we pay to it in your daily lives, and also it can provide insight into the accessibility of fresh air to humans in their respective environment.
