Our project focuses on the mixture of culturally specific and universal experiences of home. Although different, we were united by the sense of comfort and relaxation our homes give us. The quilt stands as a metaphor for both comfort and our mixed experiences. The culturally specific experiences of each person are weaved together by thread in each frame. The thread acting as the universal harmoniser.
Using a mixture of styles emphases each person's unique perspective of 'home'. Through our research stages of the project, we found the 5 senses were a huge factor in how we found comfort and relaxation. The video emphases the strong sensory experience of comfort through sound.
The quilt is not only a collage of unique experiences but is used to bring comfort. The video ends with rolling thread, signifying the ever-growing cultural experiences that shape our relationship to home. Each patch representing the worlds vibrant cultural experience of home.
