HyphaeVision

a visual and poetic interpretation of the prompt “mycelium”

Inspired by the humility and interconnectedness of fungi’s underground network, our team worked together to express our wonder and awe with the world of mushrooms. We used a mixture of poetry, 3D animation, illustrations, and motion graphics to explore the beings who are normally microscopic, invisible, and overlooked. A tribute to show appreciation and an attempt to de-centralise the human.

The abstract nature of the works reflects the way mycelium, and the networks in nature in general, are built beyond what we can see with the naked eye and understand with the post-colonial, post-capitalist mind.

Though we are aware it is almost impossible to decentralise the human while attempting to experience the world through the cells of another species, we did our best to go beyond our comfort zones and translate the sensations we imagine they feel into visuals.
