Mycelium Symphony

the mycelium symphony is the result of one exciting week of learning, exploring, and understanding the world beneath through the lens of mycelium. The project seeks to create an immersive journey that encapsulates our own experience with the world of fungi, together with our passionate friends and lecturers at the Common Design Studio.

the project takes the focus away from the human body, and instead uses it as a catalyst for the mycelial display. With the haptic signal via the footsteps of the user, mycelium grows mushrooms that accommodate these prints, connecting print to print, and connecting itself to other nearby bodies of nature.

An LED matrix and sounds are additional elements that add to the multisensory journey of the user, allowing them to fully immerse themselves into the experience. The project emphasises the importance of other entities in our daily lives and the symbiotic possibilities between human and nature.
